An incredibly honest memoir about the author's drug and alcohol addiction and disordered eating habits and the wake up call that forced her to stop cold turkey。 Told with her trademark humor and wit, this was highly relatable and a must read for anyone (especially mothers) wondering if they might be using alcohol to avoid/deflect from other life problems, particularly depression, anxiety and postpartum。 Great on audio read by the author herself。 Many thanks to Simon Schuster Audio for a complime An incredibly honest memoir about the author's drug and alcohol addiction and disordered eating habits and the wake up call that forced her to stop cold turkey。 Told with her trademark humor and wit, this was highly relatable and a must read for anyone (especially mothers) wondering if they might be using alcohol to avoid/deflect from other life problems, particularly depression, anxiety and postpartum。 Great on audio read by the author herself。 Many thanks to Simon Schuster Audio for a complimentary ALC in exchange for my honest review! 。。。more

Excellent memoir。 It was funny, emotional, heartfelt, heartwrenching, and filled with little tidbits of advice。 If you are sober curious, this is a good novel to start with。

Drunk-ish follows the life of Stefanie Wilder-Taylor from her pre-kids years to her modern-day life as a mom of teenagers。 Alcohol is a touchy subject for a lot of people and I felt Wilder-Taylor did a phenomenal job at pulling apart the society norms and expectations aren't drinking。 As a mostly non-drinker; by choice, who also happens to have a full sized bar and lounge in my house, I'm accustomed to a lot of assumptions about why I don't drink。 They're rarely accurate。 I appreciated the bruta Drunk-ish follows the life of Stefanie Wilder-Taylor from her pre-kids years to her modern-day life as a mom of teenagers。 Alcohol is a touchy subject for a lot of people and I felt Wilder-Taylor did a phenomenal job at pulling apart the society norms and expectations aren't drinking。 As a mostly non-drinker; by choice, who also happens to have a full sized bar and lounge in my house, I'm accustomed to a lot of assumptions about why I don't drink。 They're rarely accurate。 I appreciated the brutal truth Wilder-Taylor brought to the page and her honesty about the Katie interview; which is abhorrent btw。 My only complain with the book was pacing。 I felt like some chapters I could fly through and some felt like a trudge。 Thank you Gallery Books for the gifted copy to review。 。。。more

I have loved Stafanie’s podcast, FCOL, and have listened to her for so long, that I thought I knew all her stories already。 Turns out, she was still able to surprise me with a few。 Stefanie writes just like she talks - funny and self-deprecating。 She is very vulnerable in telling her story, but her sense of humor tempers it and keeps the tone at a perfect setting。 Regardless of whether a person struggles with alcohol, they can get a lot out of this book。 I am proud of her for writing it and prou I have loved Stafanie’s podcast, FCOL, and have listened to her for so long, that I thought I knew all her stories already。 Turns out, she was still able to surprise me with a few。 Stefanie writes just like she talks - funny and self-deprecating。 She is very vulnerable in telling her story, but her sense of humor tempers it and keeps the tone at a perfect setting。 Regardless of whether a person struggles with alcohol, they can get a lot out of this book。 I am proud of her for writing it and proud of her for 14 years of sobriety。 。。。more

Stefanie Wilder-Taylor’s memoir is a must read for anyone who has wondered about their drinking。 I have a feeling that most of us have。 Her light, funny, self-deprecating style quickly pulls you into her world。 As a stand-up comedian, she self-medicated with alcohol to calm stage fright and anxiety。 As a new mother, she found “wine o”clock” relieved the pressure of long days spent with a colicky baby。 Postpartum depression, infant twins (one with special medical needs) and a husband who worked s Stefanie Wilder-Taylor’s memoir is a must read for anyone who has wondered about their drinking。 I have a feeling that most of us have。 Her light, funny, self-deprecating style quickly pulls you into her world。 As a stand-up comedian, she self-medicated with alcohol to calm stage fright and anxiety。 As a new mother, she found “wine o”clock” relieved the pressure of long days spent with a colicky baby。 Postpartum depression, infant twins (one with special medical needs) and a husband who worked sixty hours a week turned “wine o”clock” into a longer daily celebration。 Stephanie naturally selected friends who were into playdate chardonnay and avoided the one glass and done drinkers。 However, when an evening out with her children could have had devastating consequences, she knows she has to stop。 Stefanie is brutally honest about how difficult it was for her to stop drinking。 She knows she cannot moderate her drinking。 A glass of wine will lead to a bottle and a bottle…you get it。 It takes time for her to admit she is an alcoholic, go to meetings and stop。 And stop she does, for years now but she is brutally honest about her desire, even now and then, to drink again。 In our world where almost everything - holidays, graduations , children’s parties, meetings, vacations, weddings, etc。 - Drunk-ish stands out。 Stefanie’s journey could be yours, your neighbor’s, your sibling’s or mine。 Unless you are one of the lucky few who never drinks or stops after one, buy this book。 Stefanie Wilder-Taylor wrote it for you。 5 stars。Thank you to NetGalley, Gallery Books and Stefanie Wilder-Taylor for this ARC。 。。。more

This is such a beautifully written book。 Stefanie tells her story in a manner that within pages you're hooked。 She is vulnerable and so relatable that there are moments where you see yourself in her story。 On a whim, I read Sippy Cups 15 or so years ago, and Drunk-ish is a great reminder as to how much I love this author and her writing。 Whether you struggle with drinking, or know someone who does, it will change how you think about alcohol。 This is such a beautifully written book。 Stefanie tells her story in a manner that within pages you're hooked。 She is vulnerable and so relatable that there are moments where you see yourself in her story。 On a whim, I read Sippy Cups 15 or so years ago, and Drunk-ish is a great reminder as to how much I love this author and her writing。 Whether you struggle with drinking, or know someone who does, it will change how you think about alcohol。 。。。more

Drunk-ish is a refreshingly candid and humorous memoir that delves into the complex relationship many of us, specifically moms and women (Mommy Wine Hour!), have with alcohol。 Stefanie Wilder-Taylor's journey from using alcohol as a social lubricant to questioning its place in her life is both relatable and eye-opening。 Her witty anecdotes, from liquor cabinet concoctions to tequila shots in her comedy days, resonate with anyone who has sought solace or excitement in a drink。 The book takes you Drunk-ish is a refreshingly candid and humorous memoir that delves into the complex relationship many of us, specifically moms and women (Mommy Wine Hour!), have with alcohol。 Stefanie Wilder-Taylor's journey from using alcohol as a social lubricant to questioning its place in her life is both relatable and eye-opening。 Her witty anecdotes, from liquor cabinet concoctions to tequila shots in her comedy days, resonate with anyone who has sought solace or excitement in a drink。 The book takes you on a rollercoaster of self-discovery as Stefanie grapples with the question of whether she's a "real" alcoholic。 Her decision to embrace sobriety is both courageous and empowering, making this memoir both heartfelt and funny。 "Drunk-ish" is a must-read for anyone who has questioned their own relationship with alcohol and found strength in making a change for the better。 Whether you're sober, a casual drinker, or someone who just doesn't care for alcohol, Wilder-Taylor's story is bigger than just sobriety。 It's about honesty, resilience, and the humor that can be found in even the toughest of situations。 Highly recommend。 。。。more

I worried i'd have a hard time with this as someone who doesn't identify as having much of a relationship at all with alcohol。 However, I was surprised at how much of other people in my life i was able to relate to by reading Wilder-Taylor's story。 I've judged family and friends for drinking too much without ever really taking the time to think about or consider why they might feel they need to drink。 I worried i'd have a hard time with this as someone who doesn't identify as having much of a relationship at all with alcohol。 However, I was surprised at how much of other people in my life i was able to relate to by reading Wilder-Taylor's story。 I've judged family and friends for drinking too much without ever really taking the time to think about or consider why they might feel they need to drink。 。。。more

i don’t have kids so i felt disconnected from the essence of it but i appreciated the humor and the way the author interweaves the context of her behavior into the larger narrative。 i feel like she focused only on the beginning of her journey and was intrigued to learn about how her life is more now—especially when it came to her relationship with her husband。

I have been a fan of Stefanie for many years since listening to her podcast。 I was glad to see the same wit and humor in this book。 She takes a very serious subject and adds humor to it making it relatable and a fun read。 Even being a long time follower and thinking I’ve heard all her stories, I was surprised to hear so many new ones! This is definitely a book I will be recommending to all of my friends。

A very eye-opening, yet funny account of the author's dealings with alcohol。 Going from a witty author who wrote books about moms who drink to cope with parenting, to suddenly realizing that she has a very out of control problem was handling deftly with laughter and love。 She doesn't mince words or pull punches discussing the help as well as the blowback。 A really funny book about a serious subject that is a quick read。 A very eye-opening, yet funny account of the author's dealings with alcohol。 Going from a witty author who wrote books about moms who drink to cope with parenting, to suddenly realizing that she has a very out of control problem was handling deftly with laughter and love。 She doesn't mince words or pull punches discussing the help as well as the blowback。 A really funny book about a serious subject that is a quick read。 。。。more

I was first introduced to Stefanie Wilder-Taylor many moons ago, when my kiddos were toddlers, and we watched a lot of tv shows on Nickelodeon。 During the day, my son and daughter would watch Dora the Explorer, Paw Patrol, and Blaze & the Monster Machines。 One night after the kids were in bed, yet Nickelodeon was still blaring, I discovered a funny and super relatable show called Parental Discretion with Stefanie Wilder-Taylor。 I appreciated the fact that it was geared towards moms, and funny as I was first introduced to Stefanie Wilder-Taylor many moons ago, when my kiddos were toddlers, and we watched a lot of tv shows on Nickelodeon。 During the day, my son and daughter would watch Dora the Explorer, Paw Patrol, and Blaze & the Monster Machines。 One night after the kids were in bed, yet Nickelodeon was still blaring, I discovered a funny and super relatable show called Parental Discretion with Stefanie Wilder-Taylor。 I appreciated the fact that it was geared towards moms, and funny as heck。 At that point in my life, I desperately needed some comedic relief, so I tried to catch Stefanie’s show every weeknight。 I loved her snarky sense of humor so much, I started following her on Facebook, and soon found out that she had written a hilarious parenting guide called, Sippy Cups Are Not for Chardonnay。 (So funny! Adored it!) When I heard that she had a new memoir coming out, I requested it immediately。 In Drunk-ish, Wilder-Taylor talks both candidly and seriously about her relationship with alcohol。 In the throes of motherhood, she would day-drink with other moms during play dates, and sipped on wine to unwind after a long day。 She didn’t think she had a problem with alcohol, but some of her friends and family members were concerned。 At first, she was in denial and made excuses。 Her life was stressful! Sure, maybe she was becoming dependent on alcohol to get through the day, but was it really that bad? When do you label yourself an actual alcoholic? How awful do things need to be? She’d never received a DUI, and had never been to rehab, so how could she be an alcoholic? After some reflection, her eyes were opened, and it became evident that she needed some help。 I found Wilder-Taylor’s bravery, openness, and honesty in discussing her road to sobriety extremely admirable。 I’m so glad she had the support, tools, and resources to get the help she needed。 I applaud her for sharing her story, as I think it could be helpful to others who find themselves toeing that same line when it comes to alcohol use。 。。。more

I love memoir's and getting to hear about what someone has went through, and how they persevered。 I hadn't heard of the author before so it was the first time I was finding out who she was。 Although I have never personally struggled with drinki8ng I found it fascinating to hear her story of how she because addicted to drinking, or the feeling drinking have her。 I appreciate how honest she was in sharing her story when it probably wasn't easy to share her dirty laundry。 I love memoir's and getting to hear about what someone has went through, and how they persevered。 I hadn't heard of the author before so it was the first time I was finding out who she was。 Although I have never personally struggled with drinki8ng I found it fascinating to hear her story of how she because addicted to drinking, or the feeling drinking have her。 I appreciate how honest she was in sharing her story when it probably wasn't easy to share her dirty laundry。 。。。more

This was my first audiobook of 2024, and a great choice for that and a perfect way to kick off Dry January。 Stefanie is a mom。 She likes a glass (or a bottle) of wine every night to take the edge off。 She doesn’t have a problem…。right? This was such a hilarious and perspective look on how alcoholics don’t always hit rock bottom and don’t always appear how movies and film make them appear。 Stefanie narrates this one herself and does a fantastic job。 I’d recommend!
